Nobody sells a corner LED channel with louvers in it, so I modeled one and printed enough for 48 cubbies. They were supposed to stay dry.
About the project
I needed to light 48 bar cubbies from the front corners without blasting raw RGB pixels into people's eyes. I have never seen a commercial LED channel with louvers, let alone a corner extrusion built for illumination. I modeled one in SolidWorks and printed 96 of them.
Getting the slide-in backing to fit took a few tries. Factory solder splices on the LED tape created bumps that jammed the plastic. I had to cut the tape strictly between splices to keep it flat. I also added internal zip ties so hanging wires wouldn't rip the solder pads off the strips.
Since the shelves were supposed to stay dry, I used non-waterproof tape. That was a mistake. On busy nights, people set drinks in the cubbies. Spills pooled in the corners, corroded the strips, and shorted them out. If I make these again, I am elevating the electronics off the deck and using waterproof tape.
