By this one the technique was muscle memory. Designed, printed, and wired in a single day.
About the project
Unplugged on a wall, Inverted Triangles is a plain white square. That was the goal: a piece that only exists when the power is on.
By this point I had the printing technique figured out, and I designed and printed the whole object in a single day. The frame holds a 16 x 16 matrix running WLED. The pattern is a mask of inverted triangles printed in black PLA and hidden directly behind the white front face. When the matrix fires, the black plastic blocks the light and the triangles punch through. When the power drops, they have to vanish completely, and that comes down to one number: the white diffusion layer is exactly one millimeter thick. Any more and the pattern dims. Any less and you can see it when the piece is off.
